چکیده

Background The implanted vascular access ports (PORTs) were compared with peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) as the administration of chemotherapy regarding different clinical effects and adverse effects. Which is better debatable. Hence, current study was conducted to assess safety efficacy these two optimal strategies. Methods following electronic databases searched: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library updated in May 2023. Studies on differences complication rates patients cancer using either PICC or PORT for included. Meta-analysis Revman 5.3 software used statistical analysis. Results A total 22 articles retrieved. results suggested that has a superior profile, lower incidences overall (OR=2.72, 95% CI=1.56–4.72 P=0.0004), catheter-related thrombosis (OR=2.84, CI=1.97–4.11, P<0.00001), allergic reactions (OR=6.26, CI=1.86–21.09, P=0.003) than typically expected PICC. Moreover, non-inferior group respect DVT (OR=2.00, CI=0.86–4.65, P=0.11) infection (OR=1.55, CI=0.75–3.22, P=0.24). Conclusion achieved benefits through Therefore, regarded safe effective chemotherapy. When considering economic factors some key elements, more high-quality research would help verify benefits. Nephrologists Versus Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters: Are the PICCs Winning?

Because of their low rate of procedure-related complications, ease of placement, and favorable cost profile, peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) have increased in prevalence (1–3). In patients with difficult to obtain intravenous access, PICCs are a reasonable form of central venous access when repeated administration of intravenous therapy and/or phlebotomy is required. Alth...

Prediction tool for thrombi associated with peripherally inserted central catheters.

The upper extremity deep vein thrombosis rate is increasing at the same time that the rate for insertions of peripherally inserted central catheters is on the rise. There is little information on whether the established risk factors for lower extremity deep vein thromboses are effective to predict the occurrence of upper extremity deep vein thrombosis. The purpose of this study was to identify ...

treatment of critically ill patients. For skilled intensive care unit (ICU) physicians, insertion of these catheters in large central veins is routine practice. Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) were used in the early phase of intensive care as a surrogate for centrally inserted lines by less experienced physicians and in some departments (for example, hematology) with very specif...

Multifactor Analysis of Malposition of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in Patients With Cancer.

BACKGROUND Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are used widely in patients with cancer, but catheter malposition often occurs. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to provide a reference for clinically safe catheterization through multifactor analysis of malposition of PICCs in patients with cancer. METHODS The occurrence of PICC malposition in patients with cancer was retrospectively re...

Use of peripherally inserted central catheters as an alternative to central catheters in neurocritical care units.

BACKGROUND Patients in neurological critical care units often have lengthy stays that require extended vascular access and invasive hemodynamic monitoring. The traditional approach for these patients has relied heavily on central venous and pulmonary artery catheters. The aim of this study was to evaluate peripherally inserted central catheters as an alternative to central venous catheters in n...
